Letter to Percy Jackson

By Prisha, BA (hons.) Economics, first year

Edited by Vasvi Singhal

Percy,

I hope this letter finds you well (unharmed and not while you’re fighting monsters because that's just unfortunate timing). How’ve you been? Everything okay with Sally, Estelle and Annabeth? It’s crazy how long we haven’t heard from you. The last time I read about your adventures was when Apollo was cast down onto Earth. I was reading about your life in middle school when I was in middle school and then all of a sudden, we’re all grown up.

I just started college, you know? Insane! I don’t know how I’ll manage studying, extracurriculars and a social life. You’re probably the perfect person to ask this actually. How did you do it? You spent your teens– literally the worst part of anyone’s life– saving the world. Teach the rest of us your ways! How did you manage your time? Did you use Google Calendar or, oooh, Notion? I bet Annabeth helped you with that, I’ll ask her about time management.

If anything, I look up to you. You were with me throughout my awkward pre-teen phase and you’re still here as I learn how to become an adult. Every time I feel like I can’t do something, I think about how you literally went through hell and survived. I’m truly grateful for you, for being there with me and thousands of others when we felt like we had no one else.

I hope there are no more crazy gods or monsters in your future. Have the most ordinary and mundane adulthood, you deserve it.

Catch you later,
Prisha

Did You Know?

The word library comes from Latin liber – the inner bark of trees – and was first used in written form in the 14th century.
