TIME

"Time , mystical time ,

Cutting me open then healing me fine "

- Invisible String - Taylor Swift

Have you ever heard someone say, "Give it time, everything will get better," and then found yourself wondering when that improvement will actually happen? If so, you're not alone, my friend.

A little bit about me: I've always had a tendency to expect the worst in every situation.

Think of a situation—where you're in your 12th standard and scared about your boards and all of a sudden you receive your mom's report that suggests she might have cancer?

When I learned that my mom had been diagnosed with cancer, it felt like my world was falling apart.

Even after my years of experience in always expecting the worst out of every situation, nothing could've prepared me for this.

I was in 12th grade, facing my board exams, and it seemed like nothing was going my way. I was completely lost, unsure of how to study, how to communicate, or what to do next. I could have really used a "how to" guide during that time. Looking back three years later, I can understand the saying, "time heals everything."

During that difficult period, I became so detached from everything that I still wonder how I managed to get through it. What I want to convey is that while time does heal, that healing process is only effective when you have people who support you during tough times.

If it weren't for those who cared enough to reach out to me, even when I was pushing them away, I honestly don't think I would have made it through that phase.

So yes, time does heal everything, but it's the people who serve as your anchor, helping you as you navigate your struggles and at last it's you, you're the captain of the ship that's sailing in the sea storm, trying to safely reach the shore.

P.S.: Don't forget to appreciate your own anchors :)

Also, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month—so don't forget to spread awareness!
