"Hope is a fickle, dangerous thing. It steals your focus and aims it toward the possibilities instead of keeping it where it belongs—on the probabilities."
I think this has to be one of the most well written fantasy books of this year ! It follows the story of a 20 year old Violet Sorrengail who's trained all her life to enter the Scribe Quadrant at the Basgiath War College but with the sudden order of the Commanding General ( her own mother ) she now has to qualify to become a dragon rider.
The plot of the book intrigues the reader to read more. Events after events occurs in literally every page keeping the reader hooked. The writing style is very easy, and this is a kind of book which non fantasy readers can easily read and enjoy. The challenges be it dragon fights are all humorous and written in first person perspective. The world building is easy to grasp, even with a lot going on in a particular chapter, one is easily able to comprehend, which I think is rare when it comes to fantasy books. Being a Romantic Fantasy, its ability to portray the enemies to lover's trope with the slow burn romance has me squealing.
The book also focuses on family drama, breaking up of friendships. With the plot and the climax including family drama with romance being a cherry on top, it enthralls the reader into reading more. A blend of A court of thorns and roses, the hunger games and game of thrones, fourth wing is just the best version of the combination of the three. A book that contains Dragons and a Morally Grey Man as the main character, it captivates readers of both romance and fantasy. If you've not read Fourth wing, do it now!
