Crashing Memories
By- Devika Aji
I'd like to remember you
as a seamless daydream
unfolding against the soft sky
blending into the effervescent blue
bleeding with the soft green
of the floating flowers that pry
about the tiny rays swirling into
algaeic lovers arms
a collection of car crashes one
can't but help looking directly at,
made with an assemblage of
stars made by a five year old—
the memories drawn on our yellowing walls
reek of combustible pipedreams
there are no ceilings, at all,
we refused, remember?
no ceilings was the deal
but you do not remember ofc
we used to say
we are not our parents
but through and through
you and me
we are what are parents used to be
in different permutations
our perspectives very much influenced
by the words we read
by the moments moulding
by the kinships and betrayals
But what is betrayal ?
what is trust ?
the succumbing notion
of self debilitates into a mutiny of
sadcore desires and
pointless conversations
but then you appear as a nightmare
decaying, devouring but still
i choose to remember you
as a beautiful crash crash
a daydream that continues to roll on.
