Imagine a glass filled to the brim with water. Yet, you continue to pour, despite the inevitable overflow and somehow even when you try to stop and let go, you can't, not because you don't want to, but simply because you want to hold on. This isn't about the glass or the water, it's about what we are constantly facing each and every day, we simply do some things only because we can't let go of them and it was when I stumbled on the line ‘Life is an overflowing bowl of soup’ did I realize that this book that I am reviewing, quite simply holds a profound meaning. While it may feel like you know all of this in some corner of your heart, yet this book provides you with a reassurance to look at life and death through a different lens.

The Book "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom is a heartwarming and thought-provoking memoir that explores the profound lessons Mitch learned from his former college professor, Morrie Schwartz. This book is a testimony to the power that relationships hold and the invaluable wisdom that can be gained from the insights of the people that surround us, who we often forget to interact with or do not take the time out for in lieu of the ‘more’ important things in life. The story begins with Mitch, a successful sports journalist, reuniting with his sociology professor, Morrie Schwartz after seeing him on a TV interview, who is struggling with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) yet he shares his insights with Mitch during their weekly Tuesday meetings.

The characters are well-developed and complex, with Morrie emerging as a wise and compassionate mentor even when he is on his deathbed. His wit, despite his physical limitations, inspire Mitch and the reader to reframe their outlook towards life and equips them in a manner that they are able to face the supposedly hard questions of life, the most important one being ‘death’.

To concur, "Tuesdays with Morrie" is a moving and thought-provoking book that will allow you to see life from a different perspective and while it may feel philosophical at some points, it is a breath of fresh air which will constantly prod you to reflect on your perspective of life, death and what lies beyond it.
