Embracing Authenticity
By- Shruti Gupta
Can you remember who you were, before the world told you who you should be?
Do you ever stop and wonder who you were before the world told you who you should be? It's a thought that's been on my mind lately, and I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling this way. When we were kids, we were carefree, full of curiosity, and had dreams as unique as the colors of a rainbow. But somewhere along the way, life happened. In this so-called hustling modern life we often lose sight of who we truly are. Navigating the world, we often find ourselves conforming to the roles and expectations placed upon us. In the quest to fit in and be accepted, we are rather more disconnected these days. Yes, it might sound harsh but this is what reality looks like.
We came across technologies so that we can fasten the activities around and save a chunk of time but have you ever realized that it's the technology that's killing a vital portion of our days? Tell me how often this technology offered you an hour to recollect your true self? If you are feeling like it's a critique towards technology and it's vitality, you're wrong. I am regular customer of this shop. All I want to portray is, From a very young age, we're bombarded with certain kind of societal norms, and expectations, the relentless pressure of creating an online personas have slowly but surely, started molding ourselves into what we think the world wants us to be. It's like we're all given this script to follow, and deviating from it feels like a mistake.
In the midst of our fast-paced digital world, trying to get validated from these so-called online/offline societal beasts, peer pressures that do not even align with our innermost truths, we are gradually eroding our sense of self.
Nowadays, we are encouraged to adhere to some predefined roles and paths in life. In our pursuit of acceptance and a sense of belonging, we often compromise on our individuality, giving rise to a growing discord within us.
In this age where screens and algorithms dominate our lives, it's imperative to remember that norms, be it societal or digital, are meant to serve us, not define us ! Embracing authenticity, reconnecting with the essence of who you're, away from these filters and approval seeking of the world outside is the need of the hour.
In this noisy societal-digital landscape, how will you ensure that your authentic voice resonates louder than ever !?
