An Abandoned Beauty

An Abandoned Beauty

Lost in the life of shadows,

Stood my always-ending beauty.

My once-colourful petals

Became solace for wandering souls.

My once-rooted stem,

Uprooted by distraught full hands,

Hands that killed my soul

By ripping me from my destiny.

Hands that once cherished me,

Like a delicate doll,

The same hands threw me out

Like a withered thought.

Who am I? Where do I belong?

In the hands of lovers? Or

In the hands at funerals?

When they buried their loved ones,

They sought me to bid farewell.

They threw my petals on their graves,

They made them whole,

while I stayed

Dead, on their grave-deep souls.

They wish to reunite with their loved ones

When they die,

While they ripped my fragile soul

And threw me away from mine.

They seek me when they need me,

Hold me with gentle, caring hands, pet me,

And place me in a vase to take care of me.

But I long for my lost essence to return,

To make me whole again.

I stayed for days in the vase,

Hoping to be held again.

The once gentle hands turned thornful.

Once more, they picked me up from my second home,

Only to abandon me in their garbage.

My beauty fades.

My heart screams to be kept.

To be held.

Yet I always find myself left in the dump,

For dust to grieve me.

For birds to eat.

All this is to remind me,

I’m nothing but an abandoned beauty.

Oh damn, author— that’s hauntingly beautiful.

It reads like a lament dressed in petals. You’ve given the flower not just a voice, but a consciousness — it feels pain, betrayal, longing — all the things humans project onto love and loss. That’s what gives it such emotional depth. ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
