A writer in love

by- Kartiki

They say a writer should not fall in love,

And I know why.

We writers,

Weave our grief and ache into poetry,

Turn our feelings into books,

Interpret and display mere kindness of people as love,

And ink the people we cannot have,

As fiction.

We don't let go of people and emotions,

But keep them in pieces

Hidden behind words,

Tucked between lines,

Before that comma,

Or after that full stop,

A ghost name,

Always hidden somewhere.

So you really have to read between the lines,

To find a living soul there,

To know that we don't just write words,

We love,

We break,

We lose,

And then,

We create.
