A Letter to Atlas Corrigan

by Pratyaksha Bharadwaj

Dear Atlas,

You are my current favorite fictional character! (Yes, I said current, as it changes whenever I read any new novel.) Anyway, I wanted to appreciate you for being there for a girl whenever she needed a shoulder to lean on. You waited for her patiently and were always there for her, especially during the times when she was hurt by those who were supposed to protect her and love her the most. She was broken; she was lost, and you were the one who healed her and found her back every time. If you don't know already, then I want to tell you that you are the best lover that a girl can ever ask for. You are a caring brother who wanted his younger brother to be happy, and you protected him from all the evils that he faced. Not to forget, a good friend who's always there for his friends.

Upon writing this paragraph, I suddenly remembered a line from the Ariana Grande song Daydreamin' which goes like "I've never seen a man with so much dimension". It seems like that line was written just for you. It is not easy being a man who spent most of his life escaping the violence perpetuated by his mother and stepfather. I loved seeing you develop as a person who is a protector of those he loves deeply. It's true they say, "That's easier said than done", but you did it anyway and became someone's reason to smile and their happy place. I respect you so much for that.

Now, before concluding my letter, I just wanted to tell you to be happy, be kind to others, and especially to yourself. Remember that it goes a long way. Just keep swimming. I love you always, Atlas Corrigan.

Your admirer.

What's your favourite Colleen Hoover book?

It ends with us only reminds me of Cardigan by Taylor swift! Here's a track to stream and bawl our eyes out on.
